don't let dental anxiety prevent you from getting the dental care you need. Many patients report some level of anxiety about going to the dentist. If you’re here on our website, you’re likely wanting to know what an appointment in our Scottsdale dental office would be like. We suggest you take the time to read about some of the things that we do on a regular basis to make a dental appointment a positive experience.

We understand that many patients are embarrassed about the condition of their mouths. They may fear not being in control during treatment. They don’t like the smells or sounds, or they may be nervous about not being adequately numb for a procedure.  They are worried about unexpected costs.

Because of this, we discuss everything up front when patients come to see Dr. Marcia Blazer and her team for the first time, as well as before every appointment.  We can see patients immediately take a deep breath of relief when they know that we’re going to do everything we can to make them comfortable for treatment.

Here are some of the things we do regularly in our Scottsdale dental office:

Entertainment: We have single use headphones for use during treatment. A screen above the chair can show movies for longer procedures, or sitcoms for shorter appointments.

Temperature Control:  We have fresh blankets for those patients that get chilly during treatment, as well as fans for patients that need a bit of circulating air to be comfortable.

Air Purifiers: We have high volume air purifiers in each treatment room, as well as in our reception area.  Not only do they help to cleanse the air, they also create a bit of “white noise” for patient privacy

Communication during Treatment: Before starting a procedure, Dr. Blazer always discusses what is to be done. She tells the patient what to expect every step of the way.  Additionally, she makes sure the patient knows how to alert her if experiencing any discomfort whatsoever.

Sedation: For additionally relaxation, we always have nitrous oxide (laughing gas) available.  Dr. Blazer also offers an additional level of relaxation called “conscious sedation”, which can be pre-arranged for patients that have more severe anxiety.

Air Abrasion:  For smaller cavities, sometimes no anesthetic is needed.  “Air abrasion” is a technology that involves a gentle stream of air and abrasive powder to remove the decay. Patients LOVE this because there is no feeling of numbness afterwards!

Oraverse: Speaking of feeling numb after a dental appointment, have you heard of a product called Oraverse? For no additional fee, Dr. Blazer can administer this medication at the end of a dental appointment.  It works to shorten the duration of the numbness after a dental procedure.  Ask us about it!
