Dentures and Partial Dentures

If you have lost all or some of your teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, full or partial dentures can replace your missing teeth, and your smile! Replacing missing teeth will benefit not only your appearance, but also your overall health. You’ll be able to eat and speak, two things that most people take for granted until they lose teeth prematurely.

A full denture replaces the teeth and provides support for the cheeks and lips. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person appear older. The good thing about dentures is that they can be made to closely resemble your natural teeth, with little to no change in your appearance if desired.

Many patients these days are considering the option of anchoring a full denture in place with the use of dental implants. In addition to increasing stability of the denture, implants can help reduce further bone loss after tooth removal. Dr. Blazer can help you to determine whether you are a candidate for a denture supported by implants.
More Information

A partial denture involves using the existing teeth as anchors for a denture that replaces the missing teeth. The supporting, or anchor, teeth must be strong enough to support the denture. A partial denture will typically snap into place onto the teeth, and may involve gum tissue colored or metal attachments.
